Synopsis |
| In
Madrid, everything is measured by
its distance from the city's central
square, Plaza del Sol, which gives
this film its title and setting, as
it focuses on the love lives of 14
people whose lives interconnect
there on a hot August afternoon (in
the form of eight stories), as they
all go there at 6PM to meet one of
the other people. Among the
vignettes are stories of mistaken
identities and comedies of error,
involving people who are both gay
and straight, and anything in
between, like a struggling actress (Pons)
meeting an aspiring director
(Fuentes) about a role, but really
wants to work for a successful
theater director (Corraface); a
bartender (Ulloa) whose girlfriend (Silke)
wants to marry him; a businessman
looking for new sexual experiences;
a gay flamenco dancer (Ullate) who
uses the Internet to look for love;
a gigolo (Cabrero) frustrated by his
own love life and his wealthy client
(Velasco); a horny gay college
student (Garcia); a prostitute (Matilla);
and an engaged office clerk (San
Juan) who's anxiously excited about
losing his virginity. |
